KidZone Philadelphia
Building Brighter Futures Together
Across Northwest Philadelphia, KidZone® – part of Foundations’ Community Education Initiatives office -- is engaging young people, families, businesses, and community members as partners in building brighter futures.
Specific KidZone® activities include attendance interventions, academic and behavioral support through referrals, and parental engagement workshops that involve parents in their child’s education through community events and reading at home.
KidZone’s flagship initiative, the KidZone School Saturation Project reaches out to at-risk children, youth, and their families to promote better school attendance, behavior, and academic achievement.
Within schools, the KidZone School Saturation Project improves the capacity of teachers and administrators to support the most academically at-risk students and their families—particularly those in 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th grades. These are among the most critical years in a child’s development and benchmark years for future success in school and in life.
The KidZone School Saturation Project works to ensure:
- Students read on grade level by 3rd grade
- 6th graders explore career options and college opportunities while preparing for the rigors of high school
- 9th graders stay in school and on track to graduate
- 12th graders graduate and then succeed in college and careers.
